Hello, world.

I suppose a bit of biographical information is in order here. I was born in 1982, and have continued to have been born ever since. I've been far too interested in comics since an early age, prodded on by supportive parents (who, I'm sure, thought it was a good idea at the time...), and a world that refuses to make much sense.

This is, in fact, my third venture into comics, the first two being the wargaming-related webcomics Misfire! and Out of Focus, neither of which exist in any coherent public format anymore, sorry. The first managed to, bizzarely, be rather popular within its target niche`. The second may well have repeated that feat, had it lasted more than five entries. However, it did bear fruit in the form of a little turquoise Venusian who you all know and love (or, at least presumably, tolerate).

As far as influences go, I point to Bill Amend's FoxTrot as my primary artistic influence, and for an ill-advised youth hero in Jason Fox, which goes a long way in explaining my current status as a big honking nerd. Thrown in there for good measure are the constantly-quoted trifecta of Bill Watterson's Calvin & Hobbes, Berke Breathed's Bloom County, and Charles M. Schultz' immortal Peanuts, all three of which absolutely must be acknowledged as the touch-off points of modern strip cartooning, as well as the strips that kept me company as a child. The lesser-known, and recently retired The Norm, by Michael Jantze should also be named, and it's really a shame the strip never gained more traction in the mainstream press. For webcomics, I point to D.C. Simpson's Ozy and Millie, which is the only webcomic I've found that's able to stand alongside the greats of newspaper strips, as well as the incorrigible Penny Arcade by Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik, which turned me on to this whole online comics deal. Other influences include the books and short stories of Michael Chabon, Anton Checkhov and Alice Munro, Box Office Poison by Alex Robinson, Privateer Press' WARMACHINE game, whose early tardiness in miniatures releases were the catalyst for Percy's inception, and countless other wonderful books, films, friends, and even the odd television show.

Other than that, there's very little to say. I attend MSU (majoring in English, specializing in Film - there's just no hope), work long and hard on my comic, and honestly hope people enjoy reading it. Drop me a line, and we can chat.

[Picture coming soon - in the meantime, be assured that I'm as handsome and charming as can be. No, really!]
